Letter: The root of evil in the world

Email

It is with a heavy heart and much thought that I write this.

Last Friday morning one person took it upon himself to end the lives of 26 innocent people, 20 of whom were not much more than babies. That one act brought our nation to a stop. One person changed the lives of all those families forever, and our nation as a whole.

Not many years ago, we didn’t hear much about mass murders in schools, shopping malls, movie theaters, mosques or restaurants. What has changed?

Maybe when we were young, there was better gun control? No, that’s not it. Kids used to lock their guns in their cars at school so they could go hunting as soon as classes were out.

Maybe if we had bigger and better police departments? No, that’s not it. Our police do a wonderful job and respond in a moment’s notice, putting their lives on the line for us every day.

Did our schools have better lockdown policies? No way! We never dreamed we would ever need such a thing.

What has changed? Why is there so much evil in the world?

Friends, I believe it is because we have allowed God to be removed from everything. He, or the mention of him is no longer allowed in our schools, government buildings or public grounds.

We no longer go to “Christmas concerts” at school, they are now “holiday concerts.”

Our children no longer have Christmas or Easter vacations, they have winter and spring breaks. If we call them the latter, we are, after all referring to God. Really.

We have allowed a few people in government to change everything.

We must always speak “politically correctly.” We don’t want to offend anyone.

Where has that gotten us?

There are thousands of us across the whole nation who are offended by the removal of God. I believe he is the only one who can put an end to all the evil in our country.

There may be some of you reading this who don’t agree with me, and that’s your opinion, but this is my belief.
