Letter: A slippery judicial slope

Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor signed an opinion of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit that said the Second Amendment does not protect individuals from having their right to keep and bear arms restricted by state governments. Does this also mean that the bill of rights can be controlled by states, counties, cities, and town boards?

If that is the case, that means that our rights can be controlled by the whim of local officials! This is a very dangerous and slippery slope. She must not be confirmed as a justice on the Supreme Court.
