As a recently retired teacher of 24 years in the ACGC School District, 15 of those at South Elementary, and a resident of Atwater for 39 years, I mourn the loss of the ACGC South Elementary School.
I am so thankful I had the distinct opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful school. The Cosmos community, parents, students and staff have all been an integral part of the success of this very special school. All have been very supportive and proud of their school, and rightfully so.
To the community -- I applaud your constant efforts in helping pass district levies and attending meetings in support of the school.
To the parents -- I thank you for entrusting your children to us.
To all the staff -- thanks for delivering the best education possible in such a caring and professional manner. You have displayed a love for children and education that is hard to match. In the words of Tom Hegg in his book "A Silent Night for Peef," "True joy is found in knowing who you are, and being where you ought to be, and doing what you ought to do." And you did it well.
Tom Hegg's words from his book sums up our time together so beautifully, "You can't believe the fun we've had, you can't believe the joy."
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the warm acceptance, respect, love, and friendship you gave me during the past 15 years.
To the entire staff and community -- hold your heads high and be proud of your accomplishments. You have rightfully earned it.
