Letter: Thanks from Lakeview Drive

We would like to say thank you on behalf of the residents on the south end of Lakeview Drive in Spicer to those who showed up to help after Tuesday's tornado. Within minutes the Spicer Fire Department and Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Department were here checking on everyone's wellbeing, and shortly after that the cleanup began.

It was heartwarming to see how everyone pitched in to help with cutting the downed trees and dragging the brush out to the street for later removal. The number of young people who showed up to help was particularly noteworthy. Many of them we had never seen before but they jumped right in and started dragging branches to the street.

Due to the number of downed trees there was an immense amount of work to be done, but the job was completed before dark in a matter of only a few hours. Thank you to Larry's Power Equipment and all those who provided chainsaws and other necessary equipment. Thanks to Jahnke Foods for donating cases of water and pop for the thirsty volunteers even when the store itself had sustained damage. And thank you to the neighbors who provided food for everyone after dark.

It's neighbors like these who make Spicer a great place to live.
