Letter: Top qualities in a senator
As a retired educator, I like what Larry Rice stands for. He's interested in lifelong learning in a broad range of areas, evidenced by his going back to school in his late 40s to earn both an MBA as well as a law degree.
That tells me he truly values education and educational opportunities for people, from young children to adults. His eagerness to learn and understand, to listen and help, to educate and encourage, are qualities I want in my state senator.
I saw those qualities in Larry Rice when he was a student in my high school English class many years ago, and those traits obviously have been enhanced through the years. He's a positive problem solver we need at our state Capitol.
