Letter: Vote to preserve marriage
Recently over 800,000 Catholic families in Minnesota received a DVD from the bishop in their diocese regarding the issue of same-sex marriage. Some liberal legislators who support the gay lifestyle agenda have stated that in 2011 a bill will be passed in the Legislature to legalize same-sex marriage.
This legislation is not about equal rights -- it is about a gay lifestyle. Will the old Dick and Jane books be rewritten to include same-sex parents such as Dick and Travis or Jane and Sarah? Over 80 percent of the population in Minnesota is Christian and Christians can accept people who are homosexual. It is the gay lifestyle that is contrary to Biblical teaching.
Already the gay lifestyle is being pushed on society through movies, TV, literature and the news media in general. It is time to say enough is enough and cast our votes on Nov. 2 for candidates who support the high moral standards of the majority of the people who live in Minnesota.
We need legislators who will write and pass a bill that allows the people to vote on an amendment to the Minnesota Constitution that defines marriage as being between one man and one woman. Thirty-one states have already placed this on the ballot. The people of Minnesota deserve a right to vote on a constitutional amendment.
