On Oct. 29, the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi rolled out the liberals' latest plan for health care reform. This bill takes up 1,990 pages. Yes, that's correct, that's not a typo, 1,990 pages.
I did a word search on the word "shall." The word "shall" is used 3,424 times in the bill. The word "shall" as defined in the Merriam Webster dictionary means "used in laws, regulations, or directives to express what is mandatory." As in, thou shall not commit adultery or thou shall not steal.
I have to admit that I have not read the entire bill, but from my understanding, this bill was passed because it will create a huge bloc of votes for the liberals. The liberals just don't get it. Last August with all the heated protests that were going on at the town hall meetings, one would think that maybe the message would have gotten through to the liberals that this is not wanted by the majority of Americans.
However, the liberals seem determined to jam this monstrosity down the throats of the American people. This bill is expected to cost $900 billion over 10 years by the liberals' estimate.
The 300 million legal citizens in America will face the cost of the mandatory health insurance that you "shall" purchase. I thought the whole idea of health care reform was to try to lower the cost of health care, not a wholesale takeover of the health care system and the addition of trillions to our deficit. And states will be penalized if they attempt tort reform. That's on pages 1,431-1,433 of the bill.
