Light snow expected in west central Minnesota today

Areas of light snow are expected to affect parts of west central Minnesota today, the National Weather Service says.

An inch or less of accumulation is expected.

Weak upper level disturbances are forecast to bring periods of light snow to region this week, but "no significant accumulations are expected," the weather service said.

Today's forecast calls snow likely, mainly between noon and 3 p.m. Skies will be cloudy, with a high near 16. Wind chill values will range between minus 3 and 7. Calm wind becoming northwest between 7 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Tonight: Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around minus 4. Wind chill values between -8 and -18. West northwest wind between 8 and 11 mph.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 9. Wind chill values between minus 9 and minus 19 below. West southwest wind around 9 mph.

Tuesday Night: A 20 percent chance of snow after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 4 above zero. Wind chill values between minus 3 and minus 8 below. Southwest wind around 8 mph.

Wednesday: A 20 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 17. West wind between 7 and 10 mph.
