Light snow only in Willmar, but parts of Minn. could see 'unprecedented' May snow
WILLMAR – The Willmar forecast today is for rain and snow, but less than an inch of snow is expected.
The rest of the state may not be so lucky. A winter storm warning has been issued for the metro area and south central Minnesota. The National Weather Service says a “potentially unprecedented May snowfall event” could bring a swath of more than 6 inches in the warning area in south central into east central Minnesota.
Renville, Redwood and Meeker counties are among the areas in a winter weather advisory. Three to six inches of snow, heavy at times, is in the forecast for those areas.
The Weather Service says the good news is that by the start of next week, it will warm up closer to early May normal temperatures in the mid to upper 60s.
