Lillian M. Eblen

BENSON -- Lillian Minnie Eblen, 98, of Benson, died Monday at Swift County-Benson Hospital.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Congregational UCC in Alexandria. Burial will be in Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.
She was born June 8, 1910, in Swift County to Gus and Emma (Sirkie) Heschke. She attended school through the eighth grade in Clontarf.
She married Elmo Ellsworth Eblen in November 1925. They farmed in Swift County near Clontarf until 1938. They then moved to Forada where they farmed until 1957, when Elmo died. She owned and operated a lunch wagon that served auction sales around the surrounding counties. She also owned the Lake Reno Supper Club, Clontarf Chatter Box, and had barn dances every Saturday night. She moved back to Benson in 1997 and lived at the Golden Living Healthcare Center.
She was a member of the Forada Presbyterian Church until its closing and then joined First Congregational UCC in Alexandria.
She is survived by her daughters: Vivian (and Clarence) Tuttle of Alexandria, Alice (and Frank) Chan of Alexandria and Lois (and John) Winkel of Benson; son: Roger (and Amelia) Eblen of Ocean Spring, Miss.; 32 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; and 50 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; sons: Merl, Earl and Marvin; daughter, Ruby Brackin; one granddaughter; two great-grandsons; two sisters and one brother.
