Litchfield officer shoots suspect
LITCHFIELD -- A Litchfield Police officer shot a male suspect at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday in an incident in the 300 block of South Litchfield Avenue.
The suspect was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis where he was listed in critical condition in the intensive care unit on Sunday. The officer was not injured.
The names of the officer involved in the shooting and of the suspect were not released on Sunday. The officer was placed on administrative leave after the incident, which is standard procedure when an officer is involved in this type of incident.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating at the request of the Litchfield Police Department, according to a release from the department. BCA spokeswoman Janell Rasmussen said Sunday evening that agents plan to speak with the suspect before releasing more details about the shooting.
