Litchfield shooting suspect remains in critical condition

LITCHFIELD -- The male suspect shot by a Litchfield Police officer remains in critical condition this morning in the intensive care unit of Hennepin County Medical Center.

The man was shot by the officer around 1:30 a.m. Sunday in an incident in the 300 block of South Litchfield Avenue. He was airlifted to HCMC in Minneapolis.

Investigators are still conducting interviews and withholding the name of the man, and the officer involved, until those interviews are completed, according to Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension spokeswoman Janell Rasmussen. The BCA is investigating at the request of the Litchfield Police Department, according to a release from the department.

The officer, who was not injured, was placed on administrative leave after the incident, which is standard procedure when an officer is involved in this type of incident.
