Litchfield swimmer Warren advances to finals

MINNEAPOLIS -- Litchfield sophomore Marissa Warren advanced to two individual championship finals and also was a member of the Dragons' 200 Medley Relay that qualified for the championship final Friday during the Class A State Swimming and Diving Meet at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.

Warren finished the 100 Butterfly in 57.40, just over 1 second off the top time, and placed sixth in the 100 Backstroke preliminaries with a time of 59.34. Last year in the state finals, Warren finished fifth in the butterfly and eighth in the backstroke.

Also on the Dragons' 200 Medley Relay that placed seventh at 1:52.16 were senior Shelbie Walsh, junior Montana Linsmeier and freshman Anika Ellingson. Warren and Linsmeier, along with senior Jordan Peterson and sophomore Alyssa Raiber, failed to qualify out of the 200 Freestyle Relay preliminaries by clocking a time of 1:43.00.

Qualifying for the consolation finals was Ellingson in the 100 Breaststroke (1:09.72) and Morris/Minnewaska sophomore Bridget Opdahl in the 50 Freestyle (24.87) and the 100 Freestyle (54.83).

Races begin at noon today.
