Litchfield woman stabbed, in serious condition; man charged with attempted murder
LITCHFIELD — A Litchfield woman remains in serious condition after authorities say a 30-year-old Litchfield man stabbed her repeatedly.
Carlos Alberto Ramirez is charged with felony counts of attempted murder in the first degree and attempted murder in the second degree for the incident at the woman’s residence in Litchfield.
Ramirez made his first appearance Tuesday in Meeker County District Court. Bail was set at $150,000, or bond of $300,000 may be posted.
According to the criminal complaint, Ramirez had been fighting with the woman and told police he was upset with her regarding their relationship. He allegedly hid two knives under a pillow on the woman’s bed and waited for her to return home.
A witness at the residence, located on the 400 block of South Davis Avenue, told Litchfield Police that she heard screams and ran to the woman’s bedroom where she found Ramirez restraining the woman and stabbing her.
The victim told police that Ramirez repeatedly told her he was going to kill her and she was afraid she was going to die.
The complaint states that the witness stopped the attack, but not before the woman was seriously injured.
Litchfield police found Ramirez and the victim, who had several knife wounds on her body, in the bedroom.
Ramirez was taken into custody at the scene. Emergency first aid was administered to the woman who was then transported by ambulance to Meeker Memorial Hospital and later by air to a trauma center.
Meeker County Sheriff’s Office, the Minnesota State Patrol and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension assisted Litchfield police.
