Lloyd C. Ruesch Dec. 1, 1931 - Feb. 26, 2014

MAYNARD - Lloyd C. Ruesch, 82, Maynard, died Wednesday in St. Cloud V.A. Medical Center. His Funeral will be 10:30 am Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Friday at Harvey Anderson Clara City Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.


Lloyd Carl Ruesch was born on December 1, 1931 in Worthington, Minnesota, the son of Ernest and Gladys (Schrumm) Ruesch. He grew up in the Worthington area where he attended school. He entered the United States Army in September of 1952. He served during the Korean War and was a P.O.W. for 99 days. He received an Honorable Discharge on June 23, 1954.

Lloyd returned to work with his family tiling and farming. He later purchased and developed his farm in Maynard.

Lloyd was united in marriage to Mable (Niemeyer) Iffert on December 11, 1961. The couple lived and farmed in the Maynard area.

Lloyd was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City where he had served as an usher. He was also a member of the D.A.V. in Montevideo, the Clara City American Legion, and the 40/8 Veterans Organization in Montevideo where he served as Commander. He was active with the Farmers Union in Granite Falls where he served as President and served on the A.S.C. board.

Lloyd loved farming and everything about it including: gardening, the animals and especially the farm cats. Lloyd enjoyed cooking and canning with Mable especially eating all of her home cooked food. His family and grandchildren were very important to him.

Lloyd is survived by his daughter Lucinda Gavere; granddaughters: Samantha (Tom) Wabs, Angela Gavere; great-grandchildren: Ella-Lynn and Zoe-Rae all of St. Michael; step-son Willis (Betty) Iffert of Willmar; step-grandchildren Jennifer (Jon) Kidrowski, Brian (Lisa) Iffert, seven step-great-grandchildren: Kali, Sarafina, Brandon, Timothy, Anton and Ryder and a step-great-great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his brothers and sister: Dale (Elaine) Ruesch of Worthington; Carol (Orville) Lundbeck of Avoca and Glenn (Ruth) Ruesch of Sioux Falls, SD and other relatives.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mable in 2012, son-in-law David Gavere, and son Gordon in infancy.
