Lloyd J. Serbus

REDWOOD FALLS -- Lloyd J. Serbus, 76, of rural Redwood Falls died Thursday after a three-month battle with cancer at the Redwood Falls Hospital.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Catholic Church in Morton. Burial is at the St. Aloysius Cemetery in Olivia with military rites by the Olivia VFW and American Legion.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia with a prayer service at 7 and will continue from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
He was born June 18, 1931, in Henryville Township, rural Olivia, to James and Frances (Hlavinka) Serbus. He attended district 12 country school in rural Olivia. He worked on the family farm. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. He returned and worked on the family farm.
He married Delores Knisley Oct. 1, 1956, in Olivia. They lived and farmed in Henryville Township for the past 50 years.
They were members of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bechyn and of St. John's Catholic Church in Morton.
He is survived by his wife; his son: Rick Serbus of Redwood Falls; his daughter Jodi (and Dennis) Mellies of Hector; five grandchildren; one brother: John (and Louisa) Serbus of Olivia; and two sisters: Martha (and Eugene) Tauer of Springfield and Rita Schroepfer of Olivia.
He was preceded in death by his brother.
