Lloyd Williamson Nov. 3, 1923 - Sept. 8, 2009
MONTEVIDEO -- Lloyd Allen Williamson, 85, of Montevideo died Tuesday at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Montevideo. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
He was born Nov. 3, 1923, in Sparta Township, Chippewa County, to Lorenzo and Elizabeth (Williams) Williamson. He grew up in Sparta Township and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1941. He served in the Navy, where he taught at radio school, and in the Marine Corps during World War II.
He married Doris Bourne on Feb. 25, 1946, in Montevideo. They lived and farmed in Havelock Township. They wintered in Maui, Hawaii, and spend summers in Minnesota at Maple Lake. He was a member of United Methodist Church in Montevideo, the Maynard American Legion Post and the VFW Post in Montevideo.
He is survived by his wife; children: Paulette (and Ralph) Jelen, Barbara (and Roger) DeBeer, Mary Ann (and Bruce) Anderson, Nan Abel, Tom (and Karleen) Williamson, Harvey (and Bonnie) Williamson, John (and Sheree) Williamson and Robert (and fiancee Rhonda) Williamson; 26 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two grandsons, one great-grandson and one brother.
