Lois I. Hedlund Sept. 19, 1921 - July 30, 2013

ATWATER - Lois "Lolie" I. Hedlund, age 91, of Atwater, died Tuesday, July 30, at Bethesda Heritage Center.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 2, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater. Interment will be in Union Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Arrangements are with the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Atwater.

Lois "Lolie" Irene Hedlund was born on September 19, 1921, on the family farm near Lake Lillian, Minnesota, the daughter of Clause "Hank" and Anna (Rudeen) Thode. She grew up in the rural Lake Lillian community and graduated from Bird Island High School in 1939. On December 8, 1942, Lolie was united in marriage to Carlton H. Hedlund. They lived and farmed south of Atwater. In 1976, they retired from farming and moved to Diamond Lake, where they spent their summers and winters in Harlingen, Texas. Following CarltonÂ’s death in 1995, Lolie moved to Spicer and later back to Diamond Lake. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, baking, and being at the lake. Her greatest joy was her family.

She is survived by her five children, Steven (and Melissa) Hedlund of Portola Valley, California, Julie Hovey of Willmar, Janell Holien of Atwater, Jill Hedlund of Atwater and Jodie (and Mike) Tanata of Atwater; twelve grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. Also surviving is a sister, Vivian (and Lewis) Hedlund of Minneapolis, besides other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one granddaughter, Camille Tanata; two son-in-laws, Bob Hovey and Mark Holien; one brother, Howard Thode and three sisters, Vangie Helin, Bonnie Rosenquist Mohr and Dorothy in infancy.
