Lois L. Canaday May 7, 1917 - June 2, 2009
BELVIEW -- Lois Lucille Canaday, 92, of Redwood Falls died Tuesday at Parkview Home in Belview.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Chapel in Redwood Falls with inurnment to be held at a later date.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel.
She was born May 7, 1917, in Sioux City, Iowa, to John and Jennie (McClung) Kirkpatrick. She was raised in Sioux City and graduated from East High School in 1935.
She married Edwin Canaday on Jan. 29, 1936, in Elk Point, S.D. They lived in Nebraska for a time and then returned to Sioux City. They lived in several places during their early married years, including LeMars and Sheldon, Iowa. They moved to Seattle during World War II where they both worked in a defense plant. After the war, they returned to Iowa where they lived until moving to Redwood Falls in 1949. She was involved in the operation and management of the farm.
She was a member of a home extension club and Christian women's club.
She is survived by her children: Elaine (and Lester) Wille of Good Spring, Nev., Geri (and John) McPherson of Randolph, Kan., Mike (and Brenda) Canaday of Redwood Falls and Barb (and Bud) Robertson of Renville; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and siblings: Bernard (and Ruth) Kirkpatrick of Oregon and Erabelle Dildine of Collinsville, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her husband; infant daughter: Carolyn; a great-grandson; and two sisters.
