HECTOR -- Loren Victor Ewer, 71, of Hector, died Thursday at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hector. Burial will be in the Hector City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hughes Funeral Home in Hector and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
He was born Nov. 10, 1936, in Bird Island to Claude and Marjorie (Forcier) Ewer. He grew up in Bird Island and attended St. Mary's Catholic School.
He married Darlene Lindquist on July 3, 1954, in Bird Island. They lived in Bird Island, and he worked for Land O' Lakes Dairy in Olivia. They moved in 1977 to Hector, where they owned and operated Ewer's Café. In 1986, he became a supervisor for Renville County. He also hauled sugar beets for Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative. He worked for Hutchinson Technology Incorporated from 1995 until he retired in 2006. He drove van for the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center for the last two years. He had served in the National Guard with the Olivia unit.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hector and the Hector Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife; children: Pamela (and Dan) Seaman of Hector, Christine (and Steve) Scholla of Hector, Claudette Lind of Hector and Lisa Pfeffer of Fairfax; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and siblings: Eugene Ewer of Coon Rapids, Leon (and Muriel) Ewer of Tucson, Ariz., Virginia (and LuVern) Draheim of Olivia, Walter Ewer of Tucson, Ariz., Robert (and Marlene) Ewer of Olivia, Vernon (and Sue) Ewer of Phoenix, Oliver Ewer of Tucson, Ariz., and Dorothy Engelman of Bird Island.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
