Lorenzo Lewis Harris

Lorenzo Lewis Harris, Sr., 74, of Willmar, Minnesota, died peacefully in his sleep at home on Monday, July 28, 2014. A Celebration of Life and Memorial Service will be held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Berryville, Virginia, on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at 12:00 pm with Reverend Canon Dwight Brown officiating.

Lorenzo was born May 9, 1940, in Tappahannock, Virginia, the son of the late Thomas Delmas Harris and Esther Pauline (Lewis) Harris. Lorenzo married Mary Eileen Kleven on March 14, 1988, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Together they resided in Washington, D.C.; Arlington, Virginia; Winchester, Virginia; and Willmar, Minnesota. He retired in 2005 after serving many years with the Washington, D.C. Police Department.

Along with his loving wife of 26 years, whom he called Eileen, Mr. Harris is survived by his children: Helene Klusmann, Lorena Harris, Lorenzo Harris, Jr., and Esther Harris; his grandchildren: Dewayne, Nicole and Nyla; three great-grandchildren; sister, Carole Harper; aunt, Margaret Harris; brothers-in-law, Stan Kleven and Don Kleven; sister-in-law, Elnora Harris and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Loren; his mother and father; brother, Ricardo Harris; step-brother, Alphonso Bundy; special friends Vincent Fong, Sr. and Dave Whipkey, Sr., as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
