WILLMAR - Lowell Elroy Norine, 91, of Willmar, died Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Bethesda Pleasantview in Willmar. His funeral will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, February 24th at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. Burial will be in Cloverleaf Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-5 pm, Saturday at the funeral home and continue on Sunday one hour prior to the service,

Lowell was born in Fahlun Township, near Lake Lillian, on October 9, 1921, the son of Albert and Durba (Bomstad) Norine. He attended rural District #79 and one year at Atwater High School. He then started farming with his father. Lowell married Phyllis Ann Wright in Watertown, SD on July 13, 1944.

For a number of years, Lowell and Phyllis rented farms south of Kandiyohi prior to a move in 1955 to a farm north of Pennock, where they farmed until semi-retirement in 1982 when they moved into Willmar. They raised dairy, beef cattle, hogs and cash crops along with custom hay baling for other farmers. Lowell was always a very dedicated and hardworking farmer. After moving to Willmar, Lowell worked for a number of years for Alan Loge’s farm operation.

In his earlier years, Lowell was an avid pool player and greatly enjoyed hunting pheasants and deer. Throughout his life, he attended countless auctions and greatly liked going for coffee with his friends. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2334 of Willmar.

He was baptized at Tripolis Lutheran Church in 1945 and while living north of Pennock were members of First Lutheran of Norway Lake Church where he was an usher. Since moving into Willmar, they have been members of Bethel Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his sons, Gary (and Pat) Norine of Colfax, WI; James Norine of Richfield; grandsons, Jason (and Terra) Norine of San Diego, CA; and Robert Norine of Austin, TX; step-grandson, Scott (and Rachel) Andresen of St. Paul; great grandson, Cade Norine and step-great grandsons, Declan and Nolan Andresen along with numerous other relatives including many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 67 years, Phyllis on December 14, 2011; sister, Margaret Cleary; brother, LaVerne Norine and sisters in infancy, Phyllis Jean and Marion along with his mother and father-in-law.
