LQPV/DB boys wins state in last event

The 4x400 boys relay team representing Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd crossed the line at Hamline University's Klas Field in first-place at the end of a rain-soaked Class A Track and Field meet on Saturday evening to capture the state title by one point over Worthington.

The foursome of Bret Deyo, Ryan Swenson, Andrew Roiger and anchor Matt Anderson won in a time of 3:24.53, almost two seconds up on runner-up Belle Plaine. Worthington's relay took fourth to relinquish the team lead. LQPV/DB finished with 53 points, Worthington 52 and St. Paul Humboldt in third place with 36.

Swenson, a junior, led the LQPV/DB rally with a third in the 1600 run and second-place in the 800 run.
