OLIVIA - Lucille Fank, age 92, of Olivia died Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at RenVilla Nursing Home in Renville. Mass of Christian Burial is Monday 10:30 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia with Rev. Mark Mallak as celebrant. Burial is in the church cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Visitation continues Monday at the funeral home from 9:15-10:15 a.m.
Lucille Fank was born January 5, 1921 in rural Olivia, MN to James and Mayme (Cuta) Stadther. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia. She graduated from the Olivia High School. Lucille married Peter Fank on November 26, 1940 and they were blessed with eleven children. They lived and farmed north of Olivia for many years and Peter preceded her in death in 1998. Lucille had been a lifelong member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Lucille had resided at the RenVilla Nursing Home since March 2012. Lucille had enjoyed reading, gardening, bible study, playing cards, bingo, and especially time with her family.
Lucille is survived by her nine children: John (and Marilyn) Fank of Akeley, Gerald (and Charlotte) Fank of Cosmos, Richard (and Barb) Fank of Raymond, Paul (and Koni) Fank of Dassel, Peter (and Colleen) Fank of Kerkhoven, David (and Annie) Fank of Olivia, Mary (and Vernon) Reins of Lake Lillian, Barbara (and Bruce) Standfuss of Sunburg, and Betty (and Steve) Burgmeier of Lockridge, IA; her 36 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law Sandy Fank; her son-in-law Arnie Melsha; her brother James Stadther; and her three sisters: Lorraine Thompson, Ev Johnson, and Jeannie Borkenhagen. Lucille is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Peter, her son Donald, her daughter Elaine Melsha and her brother Wilfred "Bud" Stadther.
