MONTEVIDEO -- Lyle Lanes, 88, of Montevideo died Sunday at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital.
The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Memorials are preferred to the Black Oak Lake Cemetery or gifter's choice.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Montevideo with a prayer service at 5 p.m. and for one hour prior to service at the church
He was born Nov. 7, 1919, in Sparta Township to Harold and Laura (Nygaard) Lanes. He attended District 15 near Wegdahl and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1938.
He married Mildred Erickson on Feb. 20, 1944. They farmed until they purchased the Lanes Laundry and Superette in Montevideo.
He is survived by his wife; children: Mary Lou Lanes of Montevideo, June (and Cecil) Eisenlohr of Montevideo, Betty Funk of New Brighton, Rose (and Del) Steiner of Billings, Mont., and Dean (and Lynn) Lanes of St. Cloud; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings: Hazel and Georgette (and Frank) and George (and Vivian).
He was preceded in death by one brother.
