BUFFALO LAKE -- Lyle Martin Schultz, 80, of Buffalo Lake died Tuesday at the Hutchinson Community Hospital.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo Lake. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Arrangements are with Hughes Funeral Home of Hector.
He was born Nov. 6, 1928, in Martinsburg Township, Renville County, to Martin and Myrtle (Marquardt) Schultz. He grew up in Martinsburg Township. He graduated from Buffalo Lake High School.
On May 22, 1948, he married Shirley Dobberstein in Buffalo Lake. They lived in Buffalo Lake. He owned and operated a produce business and worked for Fischer Oil and later Haspert Oil in Buffalo Lake. Through the years, he also drove school bus. His last employment was with the Farmers Co-op Elevator in Buffalo Lake.
He was a member of the Buffalo Lake Fire Department for 31 years, and served as chief for six years. He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his children: Carol (and Steve) Orwoll of Rogers, Doug Schultz of Burnsville, Kurt (and Laurie) Schultz of Buffalo Lake, Donna (and fiancé Greg Neeser) Schultz of Eau Claire, Wis., and Ann (and Keith) Huls of Buffalo Lake; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings: Bruce (and Rose) Schultz of Hutchinson and Vivian (and Harry) Farenbaugh of Cedar Mills.
He was preceded in death by his wife, one granddaughter and one brother in infancy.
