Lyndon Abraham, age 94, of Olivia, MN, died Sunday, April 6, 2014, at the Golden Living Center in Olivia. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 10th at 1:30 p.m. at Cross of Calvary Lutheran Church in Olivia with Rev. Matt Hausken officiating. Burial will be in the Olivia Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service.
Lyndon Fredrick Abraham was born March 27, 1920, on a farm southwest of Olivia to Fred and Estella (Fehr) Abraham. He was Baptized and Confirmed in Emmanuel Evangelical Church and received other training over many years. Lyndon attended Olivia Schools and graduated from Olivia High School in 1938 as President of the class. He had played cornet in the band and sang in the choir and also performed roles in both the high school and community theatre productions. Lyndon was a faithful member of Emmanuel Church where he was active teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir and serving on various Boards. Later when the church closed he became a member of Cross Of Calvary Lutheran Church where he continued volunteering his talents in many areas. During WWll he farmed with his father to produce food and fiber for the war effort. At this time he met Deloris Lindquist and they were married at the bride's home in Olivia on December 14, 1945. To this union two sons were born, Paul and Gerald, and a daughter Judy who died at birth. Besides farming Lyndon drove school bus for 18 years and was also a Township Assessor for 26 years. After retiring from farming Lyndon and Deloris moved into Olivia in 1994 where he continued to be involved in the community. Lyndon enjoyed a small woodshop where he made bird houses for friends as well as many other items. In December of 2010 Lyndon and Deloris moved to Parkview Village and recently he has resided at the Golden Living Center in Olivia.
Lyndon is survived by his wife of 68 years, Deloris Abraham of Olivia; his two sons: Paul (and Joy) Abraham of Bloomington and Gerald (and Jan) Abraham of Apple Valley; his two grandsons: Thomas (and Camila) Abraham and Daniel Abraham; his great-grandson Nicholas Abraham; his two sisters: Mariel (and Delton) Evermann of Olivia and Carol (and Rodney) Boehlke of Shell Lake, WI; his brother-in-law Bruce LeVahn of Minneapolis; and his eleven nieces and nephews. Lyndon is preceded in death by his parents; his brother and sister-in-law Roland and Marie Abraham; and his two sisters: Noreen LeVahn and Helen Abraham in infancy.
