Lynx sweep up Stars to advance to West finals
The Minnesota Lynx are one series win away from reaching the WNBA Finals after they rallied past the San Antonio Stars 94-89 in Game 2 Saturday in San Antonio to sweep the best-of-three Western Conference semifinal series.
Hutchinson native Lindsay Whalen scored a game-high and a career playoff-high 31 points to pace the Lynx, who trailed 28-12 after the first quarter.
League MVP Maya Moore struggled from the floor, shooting just 38 percent, but she still scored 16 points, handed out a game-high 10 assists and grabbed a game-high 8 rebounds. Seimone Augustus scored 21 points and Janel McCarville also hit double figures for the Lynx with 10 points.
Minnesota, the defending champions, awaits the winner between top-seeded Phoenix and Los Angeles in the conference finals.
