Mabel Dougherty Aug. 28, 1917 - Aug. 17, 2009
LITCHFIELD -- Mabel Louise Dougherty, 91, of Litchfield, died Monday at the Bethany Home in Litchfield.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Litchfield.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and a Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary service to follow, and for one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.
She was born Aug. 28, 1917, in Marshall to Garfield and Ida (Saar) Tuman. She grew up and attended school in Marshall and the Clara City area.
She married John Dougherty on Sept. 10, 1941, in Litchfield.
She was a member of the Church of St. Philip, CCW, VFW Auxiliary, GAR and POW.
She is survived by her children: Don (and Diane) Dougherty of Litchfield, Karen (and Duane) Louisiana of Monticello, Kate (and Jack) Nelson of Shakopee, John (and Margenia) Dougherty of Radcliff, Ky., Dianne Hierlmaier of Hutchinson and Carol Pehle of Shorewood; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and sisters: Eva Kadelbach of Hector and Pearl Kohls of New Hope.
She is preceded in death by her husband in 1983; son-in-law: Chris Pehle; one brother; and one sister.
