WILLMAR -- Mable E. Stieler, 91, of Willmar, died March 14 at Willmar Commons.

The service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Arrangements are by Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.

She was born Nov. 28, 1917, in Sundown Township, Redwood County, to Carl and Marie (Polzin) Kieper. She attended District 13 through the eighth grade and graduated from Springfield High School in 1936. She worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Telephone Company and later Western Telephone Company.

She married Otto Stieler on April 8, 1943, in Springfield. Following the war they lived in Springfield and helped run Otto's father's bakery. They both attended Wilton School of Cake Decorating in Chicago, and she helped in the bakery as well as continuing to be an operator. She also attended LaSalle Extension University for interior design. In 1964, they sold the bakery and moved to Mankato where she worked as an interior designer for Landkammer Furniture until her retirement in 1979. They wintered in Las Vegas for the next 15 years and spent their summers in Minnesota. She moved to Willmar in 1993 and into Willmar Commons in 1998.

She is survived by nieces and nephews, including Carol and Eileen Kieper of Willmar.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Otto on Nov. 18, 1993; and three brothers.
