MACCRAY stymies Thunder Hawks
MONTEVIDEO — Near sweeps in singles and doubles propelled MACCRAY past Montevideo 5-2 Tuesday in a non-conference girls tennis match.
The Wolverines won the top three positions in singles and the top two slots in doubles en route to improving to 4-2 on the season. Amber Wieberdink at No. 1 and Kaylee Christenson at No. 3 won in straight sets, while Kim Trulock won a three-setter at No. 2.
Annie Sandry/Jenna Mersbergen won easily at 1-doubles for MACCRAY, which also got a point from the No. 2 duo of Heather Marcus/Belle Brynjulfson after the two bounced back after getting shut out in the opening set.
The Thunder Hawks’ two victories came from Ashley Hoehne at 4-singles and Abby Carlbom/Avery Koosmann at 3-doubles.
