Man airlifted after vehicle hits home near Dawson

DAWSON -- A 23-year-old rural Boyd man was taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson and later airlifted to another hospital for treatment of injuries sustained when the pickup he was driving struck a rural Dawson home late Wednesday evening.

According to a news release from the Lac qui Parle County Sheriff's Office, Zackary Moen was alone driving a 2006 GMC pickup southbound on County Road 37. The vehicle left the roadway and entered the left ditch. Moen attempted to get the pickup back on the roadway, but it went into a skid, crossed over the roadway, entered the right ditch and skidded into J.J. Schuelke's yard and struck the residence.

The incident happened around 11:35 p.m. Wednesday about one mile east of Dawson. The crash is under investigation by the sheriff's office. Also assisting were the Dawson police, ambulance and fire departments.
