Man arrested after pointing gun at officers

ATWATER -- A 46-year-old man was arrested Monday evening after he allegedly pointed a gun at law enforcement officers.

According to a news release from the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's office, deputies were called around 7:25 p.m. to a call in rural Atwater regarding a man and a woman fighting, with the man having a gun. When deputies arrived, the woman had gotten away from the man.

The officers made contact with the man, who during the course of conversation allegedly pointed the gun at deputies. He was arrested.

Charges are pending upon review by the county attorney's office.

The Atwater Police Department and Ambulance and the State Patrol provided assistance during the incident.
