Man arrested after suspicious activity near middle school
WILLMAR -- A 66-year-old Willmar man is in the Kandiyohi County Jail on charges of false imprisonment, disorderly conduct and assault after he allegedly approached three young girls Monday afternoon.
According to Willmar Police Sgt. Michael Markkanen, police received a call around 3:05 p.m. Monday regarding a suspicious man in a vehicle along the 400 block of 11th Avenue Southeast, near the north side of Willmar Middle School.
Upon investigating the call, officers learned the same man later approached two 11-year-old girls and 12-year-old girl along the 600 block of Becker Avenue Southeast. He allegedly made physical contact with them.
One of the girls was able to run away and contact a parent.
Officers were able to identify the man and he was subsequently arrested. None of the girls required medical assistance.
A police investigation was continuing as of 9:45 p.m. Monday.
