Man dies in accident at Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative

RENVILLE — A 60-year-old man died in an apparent workplace accident at the Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative at 2:50 p.m. on Thursday.

The Renville County Sheriff’s office reported today that the victim was run over by a pay loader and died of his injuries. Visibility was poor at the time of the accident due to strong winds blowing beet pulp around the plant, according to the news release.

The victim’s identity is being withheld until family is notified.

The accident is under investigation by the Renville County Sheriff’s Office and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
