Unconditional bail was set at $75,000. His next appearance is July 16.

Irwin also faces felony charge of fifth-degree drug possession and two misdemeanor charges of domestic assault in Kandiyohi County District Court.

According to the complaint, a Willmar Police officer was called around 6:15 a.m. Saturday to the emergency room at Rice Memorial Hospital regarding an assault. A woman, with visible injuries, told the officer that Irwin had repeatedly kicked her in the stomach, hit her arm with the dull side of a knife and held the sharp side of the knife to her throat and threatened her life. She said the assault happened around 1:30 a.m. that morning at a Willmar hotel after Irwin got upset that she hadn't brought him any methamphetamine.

Irwin, who was also at the hospital, claimed that the woman had caused the injuries to herself, that someone had gotten into the hotel room and had beaten him and that the woman had beaten him because she thought he was going to break up with him. He was arrested and officers found a digital scale in his possession that residue on it that tested positive as meth.
