Man gets seven years in Red Lake assault case

DULUTH -- A Redby man was sentenced Wednesday in federal court in Duluth to seven years in prison for an assault last year on the Red Lake Indian Reservation.

Dale Clinton White Jr., 20, pleaded guilty in July to one count of assault resulting in serious bodily injury to another man last March.

Chief Judge Michael J. Davis gave the 90-month sentence as an upward departure from federal sentencing guidelines because of “extreme and inhumane treatment of the victim.”

The case was investigated by the Red Lake Tribal Police Department and the FBI, officials said in a news release.
