Man injured after series of car crashes along First Street in Willmar, Minn.

WILLMAR -- A 50-year-old Willmar man was injured in the final crash in a series of motor vehicle accidents that happened between 4:15 and 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

According to a news release from Willmar Police Sgt. Daniel Erickson, Jeffrey James Tyler was taken by ambulance from the scene of the final crash. The series of incidents is under investigation and charges are pending.

Police dispatch received a series of calls that began with a report that a white vehicle had crashed into another vehicle and fled at the intersection of First Street and Monongalia Avenue Southwest. Minutes later, someone reported that a white vehicle had crashed into another vehicle at First Street and Trott Avenue.

Police then received multiple calls of an erratic driver in a white vehicle on First Street and in the area of Willmar Avenue Southwest.

Then, at Willmar Avenue and Fifth Street Southwest, a white vehicle crashed into another vehicle, then swerved and crashed into a second vehicle.

Finally, the vehicle crashed into a curb, street sign and light pole.

There were no apparent injuries in any of the vehicles struck by Tyler's vehicle. A passenger in his vehicle, a black lab, wasn't injured and was transported home.

Anyone who witnessed any of these events is asked to contact the police department at 235-2244.

The police department was assisted by Willmar fire, ambulance service, municipal utilities, Kandiyohi County Sheriff's office and Ed's Service Center.
