Man pleads to second sex crime, sentencing is April 9
WILLMAR -- A 38-year-old Willmar man who is already serving 12 years in prison for molesting a child pleaded guilty Tuesday to a second-degree criminal sexual conduct charge for molesting a now 13-year-old girl.
Adrian Lee Vanderlinden will be sentenced April 9 in Kandiyohi County District Court. Vanderlinden's attorney will have the opportunity to argue that his client serve the second sentence concurrently, or at the same time, as the first sentence. The state will argue for consecutive sentencing, with the second term not to exceed 90 months in prison.
The charge was filed after the girl was interviewed by child protection workers for Kandiyohi County Family Services in July 2011. She reported that Vanderlinden had abused her while she was between the ages of 5 and 10. She said Vanderlinden told her not to say anything to anyone about the abuse.
Vanderlinden was interviewed by a Willmar police detective at the Minnesota Corrections Facility in Faribault. He admitted to touching the girl sexually, but denied the extent of his contact was to the level the girl described to child protection workers.
Vanderlinden was sentenced to 12 years in prison in February 2010 on a first-degree criminal sexual conduct charge for molesting a then 12-year-old girl.
