Man who fled Stearns Co. crash found injured in field
HOLDINGFORD, Minn. - A man who the Stearns County sheriff says fled the scene of an accident was found three hours later lying injured in a cornfield.
Deputies who responded early Thursday morning to a report of a crash near Holdingford found a pickup crashed in the ditch but no driver. Deputies and rescue personnel searched the area but couldn't find anyone.
Sheriff John Sanner tells the St. Cloud Times that 31-year-old Terry Runge of St. Anna fled the scene. Three hours later, Runge's roommate called deputies to say he'd called her to say he was in pain and couldn't move. Searchers soon found him in a cornfield northwest of the crash site.
Runge is listed in good condition at a St. Cloud hospital.
