Marcella Mae Breitkreutz, age 79, of Renville, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2014, at the United Methodist Church in Renville. The Rev. Dean Nosek will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Renville. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at the Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Renville. Visitation continues on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the noon service at the church in Renville.

Marcella Mae Breitkreutz was born on March 3, 1935, at her familys home in North Redwood, Minnesota to Sidney and Addie (Roswell) Abel. She grew up in Renville and attended school there. She was united in marriage to Charles E. Breitkreutz on December 2, 1957, at the Methodist Church parsonage in Renville. Following their marriage, Marcella and Charles lived on a number of different farms in Renville and Redwood counties, and she held several different jobs during this time. Marcella moved back to Renville in 1991 and has resided here since. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, and loved music and playing Bingo. Marcella also loved animals, and loved feeding and watching birds. She was a warm giving person and was always willing to help her family and others.

Survivors include her children: Gary Abel of Atlanta, GA, Galen Bothum of Albert Lea, Sandy (and Bob) Tadych of Winnebago, Marcia Breitkreutz of Worthington, Lisa (and Brian) Pantekoek of Pennock, Bill Breitkreutz of Prinsburg, Julie (and Nick) Brey of Atwater, and Steven Breitkreutz of Andover; 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; 4 step children and numerous step grandchildren; her brother Robert Abel of Granite Falls, many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles, and four sisters and two brothers.
