March storm roaring into Minnesota
School and road closings in western Minnesota continue as a major winter storm blows in from North Dakota.
Many schools throughout the region are either closed, or are closing as the Minnesota Department of Transportation continues to issue travel advisories.
In Chippewa, Kandiyohi, Lac Qui Parle and Yellow Medicine counties MN/DOT is reporting difficult driving conditions, reduced visibility, gusty winds, heavy snow, blowing snow.
Most schools throughout the region will have closed by noon.
State Patrol Capt. Bruce Hentges in Detroit Lakes says Interstate 94 from Moorhead to Fergus Falls will close at 11 a.m. as visibility in the area falls.
He says U.S. Highway 10 from Moorhead to Detroit Lakes will be shut down later today, but the time has not been set.
The National Weather Service predicts that winds gusting to 40 miles per hour will accompany 6 to 12 inches of snow and subzero windchills in western Minnesota by tonight.
