Deaths ruled homicides: Grandson of Paynesville couple arrested for murder

Margaret M. Latcham, 75, of Willmar, died Thursday March 20, at Bethesda Heritage Nursing Home in Willmar. Her memorial service will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Willmar. Memorials are preferred to the family.

Margaret Martha Whetston was born in Morton, Minnesota on April 30, 1938 to William Walter and Mary Laura (O'Connor) Whetston. She attended school in Morton and later earned her GED certificate. On December 26, 1956, Margaret was united in marriage to Floyd Castle. They made their home in Redwood Falls. She later married Blaine Latcham in 1984. They made their home in Milaca and New London. After Blaine's death, Margaret moved to Willmar where she resided until her death.

Margaret was the "Queen of Hospitality" and loved to serve and take care of her family and friends, old and new. She approached each day with a laugh and a smile, even in the face of her final illness. She enjoyed family dinners, cooking, sewing and quilting.

She is survived by her long-time companion and special friend, Robert Manning of Redwood Falls; her children: Rick (Denise) Castle of Redwood Falls, Mike Castle of Mandan, ND, Lisa (Greg) deCathelineau of Appleton, Todd (Delores) Castle of Bismarck, ND, and Kelly (Steve) Gardner of Willmar; eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. Also surviving are two brothers: Jim Whetston of Morrisville, NC, Francis Whetston of Lake Lillian; and sister, Gertrude Holzerland of Rochester. She is fondly remembered by lifelong friends Bev Schneider and Susan Larson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Bernard and Vincent, a sister, Charlotte, and her husbands.
