BELGRADE - Marian Anderson, 85 of Belgrade, died Sunday, January 27, 2013 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Big Grove Lutheran Church in rural Belgrade. Burial will be in the church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade and for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Elverna Marian Anderson was born on April 14, 1927 in Dairyland, Wisconsin, the daughter of Thorstein and Marie (Kasseth) Haug. She grew up on the family farm in Dairyland where she attended country grade school. On March 23, 1957, Marian was united in marriage to Allen Anderson in Minneapolis. They made their home in Minneapolis before moving to the Belgrade/Brooten area where Marian worked in social service for many years. Marian and Allen were able to share in 55 years of marriage, in which they were blessed with two wonderful children; Arlen and Carolyn.

Marian was an active member of Big Grove Lutheran Church where she served in WELCA, quilted and served on numerous mission projects. She also was an avid volunteer of the food shelf, meals on wheels, served on the Belgrade Nursing Home Board of Directors, and was an active member of the Brooten Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed the company of her friends and family, wintering in Texas with Allen, and countless hours with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved going to church functions; especially the Fall Auction where she was always excited to sell her lefsa, apple pies and quilts. Some of her pastimes included taking care of her flowers and garage sales. Her greatest love of all was spending each day with her husband and building a lifetime of memories together.

She is survived by her husband, Allen; children, Arlen (Tamie) Anderson of Lowry and Carolyn Pelkey of Belgrade; six grandchildren, Kristen, Michelle, Aaron, Charlie, Justine and Andrea; three great-grandchildren, Riley, Colton and Andrew and her siblings, Thor (Karen) Haug and Ethel Pederson, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a great-granddaughter; four brothers, and one sister.
