ALEXANDRIA -- Marilyn Louise Schmidtke, 64, of Grey Eagle, died Wednesday at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria from complications of myotonic muscular dystrophy.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Melrose. Memorials are preferred.
She was born Aug. 16, 1944, in Willmar to Elliott and Mildred Hanscom. She graduated from Willmar High School in 1961 and continued her education at Willmar Community College. She pursued a career in business and worked for Hart's Press in Willmar before relocating to Long Prairie in 1973. She continued her career as a litho graphic artist for more than 17 years.
She married Bill Schmidtke on July 4, 1976. They lived near Grey Eagle for 32 years.
She is survived by her husband; a sister: Marjorie Honer of Grey Eagle; and nephews and nieces including Lisa Hougen (and Larry Norton) of Willmar.
She was preceded in death by a sister, two nieces and three children at childbirth.
