Marilynn E. Murphy June 23, 1923 - July 27, 2009
MURDOCK -- Marilynn Ethel Murphy, 86, of Murdock died Monday at her home.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service, today at the church and one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson.
She was born June 23, 1923, in Gibbon to Albert and Ethel (Monson) Tester. She grew up and attended school in Gibbon. She attended the University of Minnesota and received her bachelor of science degree. During World War II, she worked for the U.S. Army as a dental hygienist in Utah. After the war, she worked as a hygienist in Minneapolis.
In November 1949, she married Norbert Murphy in Minneapolis. They moved to Murdock where she was a home maker. She also kept the books for Murphy Construction Company.
She is survived by her children: Brian Murphy, Mary (and David) Gafkjen, all of Murdock, Trish Murphy (and Jack Griffin) of Richmond, Rob Murphy (and Kaye Sullivan) of Juneau, Alaska, and Katie Laughlin of Willmar; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988 and a grandson.
