VILLARD -- Marion Francis Butler, 86, of Sauk Centre, formerly of Villard, died Monday at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church in Villard. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Villard.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood, with parish prayers at 6:30 p.m. and a rosary at 6:45 p.m., and for one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.

She was born Feb. 1, 1923, in Six Mile Grove Township, Swift County, to John F. and Josephine (Mattheisen) McGee. She grew up on a farm near Danvers. She attended school at District 39 in Six Mile Township through the eighth grade and was a graduate of Benson High School. She attended St. Cloud Teacher's College. She taught third and fourth grade in Villard for three years.

She married Walter Monroe Butler on Aug. 10, 1944, in Danvers. They lived on a farm near Villard where they worked.

She was a member of St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church in Villard, where she was a member of the Christian Mothers. She was also a member of the Mother's Club.

She is survived by her husband; her children: Charles (and Anne) Butler of St. Paul, John (and Lisa) Butler of New Brighton, James (and Lisa) Butler of Lakeville and Connie (and Tony) Faith of St. James; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister: Margaret Erickson of Lamberton.

She was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.
