REDWOOD FALLS -- Marion Frederickson, 79, of Redwood Falls died Saturday at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Robbinsdale.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls with burial in the Morgan City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and for one hour prior to the service at the church. She was born July 10, 1930, in Morgan to Orn and Laura (Kettner) Hier. She grew up in Morgan and attended Morgan schools. She graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter with a degree in music education in 1952. She taught music for eight years in Hull, Iowa, and then in Willmar, Cloquet, and Hopkins, before teaching for 21 years in Redwood Falls.
She married Kenneth Frederickson on June 13, 1959, in Morgan. They lived on a farm in Paxton Township, Redwood County, from 1960 until 1990. She retired from teaching in 1989 and they moved into Redwood Falls in 1991. She was a soprano and sang at countless occasions and weddings from the time she was in junior high school. She sang in church choir wherever she lived and directed church choirs in Willmar and Redwood Falls. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls, serving as an elder, a circle member and choir member. She was a member of Philoectian Study Club, the Redwood Retired Teachers, and TOPS. She and her husband endowed a scholarship for a student from Redwood Falls schools studying music education.
She is survived by her husband; siblings: Janice Phelan of Plymouth, Eleanor Frederiksen of Scottsdale, Ariz., Stephen Hier of Elmhurst, Ill., and Russell Hier of Circle Pines.
