Martha C. Jacobson, 89 of Willmar died on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar. Her funeral service will be 11:00 am on Monday, July 21, 2014 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Sunday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Martha Caroline Jacobson was born on March 2, 1925 in Fahlun Township, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Ellen (Lindblad) Carlson. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school District #39. She graduated from Willmar High School in the class of 1942. She began working for the West Central Tribune.

Martha was united into marriage to Carl Jacobson on April 26, 1947 at Tripolis Lutheran Church in rural Kandiyohi. The couple lived in Upsala, Minnesota until 1951 when they moved to the Willmar area. Martha began working for Corneil-Elkjer Agency as a secretary. She retired in 1987. Carl and Martha entered Bethesda Heritage Center in 2012. Carl passed away on October 2, 2012.

Martha was baptized and confirmed at Tripolis Lutheran Church. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar where she was active as a Sunday school teacher, and with the quilters group, Bible study, and many other facets of the church. She also served on: church council, altar guild, president of the WELCA and served as synod secretary.

Martha enjoyed camping, spending time with her family and was always very supportive of them in all of their activities. She was an avid Minnesota Twins Baseball fan and enjoyed Monday night coffee club. She volunteered her time with the rural youth association and Rice Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Her family remembers all of her baking and the hospitality she would give with all of her meals. She always remembered her extended familys birthday and anniversaries with special card.

Martha is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (and Dean) Westheim of Sunburg; son Dennis (and LuAnn) Jacobson of Storm Lake, IA; four grandchildren: Amy Goldenstein, Mindy (and Nathan) Ruka, Kiera Jacobson (and faence Ivan Mendoza) and Trevor Jacobson; 2 great-grandsons: Matthew and Drew Goldenstein, Jackson Ruka and two sisters-in-law: Martha Shelhem of Minneapolis and Cindy Jacobson of Colorado Springs.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
