Marvin Seehusen

Marvin Seehusen, age 81, of Olivia died Monday, March 17, 2014, at the Golden Living Center in Olivia, surrounded by his family. Funeral services are Friday 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Olivia with Rev. Joel Luetke officiating. Burial is in St. Matthews North Cemetery, rural Danube. Visitation is Friday at the church from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service of Olivia.

Marvin Ray Seehusen was born November 1, 1932 on the family farm in Holland Township, rural Danube, MN to Ralph and Rena (Grussing) Seehusen. He grew up in rural Danube where he attended District #99 School and later attended Danube High School. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Lukes Church at rural Danube. Marv had a love for cars and was an excellent mechanic. He worked as a mechanic for Ferges in Olivia as well as for Curtis and Carey in Olivia for many years. Later he started selling cars for Johnson Ford in Lake Lillian, Monson Motors in Granite Falls, and Lees Auto Sales in Olivia after which he was employed for 28 years at Dirks Furniture in Olivia as a salesman. Marv had enjoyed car racing at the Bird Island and Willmar speedways for many years. Marv was united in marriage to Jurena Sietsema on September 6, 1952 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart. They were married for 61 years and were blessed with five children. Marv was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Olivia. Our Lord called the soul of his servant Marvin to himself in Heaven on Monday, March 17, 2014.

Marv is survived by his wife Jurena of Olivia; his five children and their spouses: Lynne Marie (Tim) Morton of Willmar, Debbie (Dale) Tonsfeldt of Svea, Peggy (Lon) Smithson of Champlin, Kevin (Peggy) Seehusen of Bird Island, and David (Barb) Seehusen of Rockford; his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Carol Seehusen of New Hope; one niece and one nephew. Marv was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Eugene Seehusen, and his daughter-in-law Beth Ann Seehusen.
